Woven Conference Gathers Nearly 100 for a Day of Learning & Connection

Mar 19, 2026

On Saturday, November 15, nearly 100 people gathered at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Waterloo for the Woven Conference, a one-day event focused on nurturing a faith that is resilient, honest, and life-giving for the next generation.

Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to engage in six different workshops covering topics such as spiritual disciplines, being mindful consumers of media, navigating Christian parenting resources, and imagining how churches can become more welcoming and loving communities. Many members of the Presbytery of North Central Iowa played key roles in both planning the event and leading workshops, making it a truly collaborative effort.

The day’s keynote speaker, Meredith Miller, offered a thoughtful and encouraging message about cultivating a faith that can withstand tension—one that doesn’t collapse when stretched, but instead grows stronger through curiosity, questions, and community.

Beyond the formal sessions, Woven created space for meaningful conversation and connection among pastors, parents, ministry leaders, and those simply seeking a deeper and more hopeful vision of faith. The gathering reflected a shared desire to build churches and communities where spiritual life can flourish across generations.

The event was made possible through the generosity of Rick Vesely’s memorial fund and the Presbytery of North Central Iowa, whose support helped make the day accessible and welcoming to all who wished to attend.

Woven was, at its heart, a day of learning, connection, and growing together—and a reminder that when faith is nurtured with honesty and care, it can become something strong enough to hold both our questions and our hope.
