Women of Mason City FPC donate Handmade Quilts to Refugees
The church days of packing Mission Barrels for overseas may be over, but the need to help those with challenges remains. Just after Christmas, quilts were made and donated by the women of First Presbyterian Church in Mason City and carried to Ames to supply those from other countries in need of warm comfort. Susan Cramer, leader of the Ames Interfaith Refugee Alliance group said, โThe quilts are showing the refugees that the welcome is unified, that people from other parts of the state approve of them coming here.โ A total of eight quilts made by Our Own Hearts quilting mission will help refugees from Ukraine,
South Sudan, Hati, Honduras, and Venezuela. The First Presbyterian quilters continue working on more quilts to donate both to refugees and also to Mason City missions.
