February 12-19, 2022

Unfortunately, this trip has been cancelled.

The Presbytery of North Central Iowa’s 2022 PDA Mission Trip will be to New Bern, North Carolina, to help rebuild after Hurricane Florence hit the area in September 2018. The opportunity is also open to the Presbyteries of Prospect Hill and Des Moines.

The cost will be $175 per person, which includes five nights in New Bern. Participants will be responsible for the cost of their own travel and lodging to North Carolina and back.

Registration may be completed by downloading and completing the PDFs below. If you have questions, please contact Angie Jewett (or call 515-370-0839) or Dave Little (or call 641-420-2816).

Completed applications should be mailed to the Presbytery Office 1864 Hwy. 86, Milford IA 51351, and must be received in the Presbytery Office no later than January 14, 2022.

We will be staying at New Hope Volunteer Village at Neuse Presbyterian Church in New Bern, NC, arriving February 13 and departing February 18. The Village has 10 sleeping rooms with 2-3 sets of bunk beds with Tempurpedic twin XL mattresses. Each room has its own heating/air conditioning. Linens and blankets are provided; volunteers are expected to bring their own pillows. The site has a lounge, kitchen and laundry facilities.

Repair work is being coordinated by the Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance. Even though Hurricane Florence was over 3 years ago, there are still 150 homes awaiting repair with another 400 prospective projects still in case management.

PDA requires that all volunteers provide a vaccination card for proof that they have been fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated is defined as receiving your final shot no less than two weeks prior to staying at a PDA host site. At this time, there are no exceptions to this policy.
